Treat Collection Nail Polish (Haul)

I love Chanel nail polishes, but I'm a stickler for ingredients. After a series of disappointing investments in water based, and various 5-free nail polish brands, I came across Treat Collection in Denver's eco-beauty outpost, Vert Beauty. They had only five bottles in stock, but I picked up two shades and was instantly smitten. Hailing from Berlin, Treat Collection's palette range is studded with some really interesting shades (Cocktail Hour, a shimmering taupe with both gold and grey undertones come to mind) and the application lasts a week at minimum. Which is phenomenal considering how often I hand wash dishes.

Luckily, Amazon had a flash sale and I snapped up a few bottles of their more tamer colors. (I just can't do blue nail polish, but I appreciate their blue is more a restrained blue-gray.)

Anyway, I'm officially hooked. Behold my haul:

Red Flower Illuminating Rose Collagen Renewal Face Serum

Red Flower is known for petal topped candles, globally inspired fragrances and saying things like "skincare is a daily practice." It's what I imagine Aveda would be like if Host Rechelbacher didn't sell his company to Esteé Lauder and instead continued on a path of mindfulness both in formulation and ideology.

That said, when Red Flower launched a skincare line, I was skeptical about its efficacy. They do fragrances and candles so well, it's rare that lines cross over into skincare with as much success as fanfare.

I'm happy to be wrong. I was given a few samples of their Rose Collagen Renewal Face Serum and packed them on a trip to bone-dry Denver during an exceptionally chilly week. A 100% natural cocktail of seven fruit and flower extracts, including damask rose for anti-aging vitamin A to restore and repair the daily toll that the sun and free radicals wreak. Plus cloudberry and raspberry seed extracts for antioxidant protection and fatty acids, to protect against further environmental damage.  It's geared for sensitive, mature and stressed skin types – and I love that "stressed" is now a skin type.

It's labeled as a serum, but this is really an oil that feels dense, but at the same time, supple. It's clear, light golden and spreads easily. It's expensive, but a little bit goes a very long way, and the aroma of roses lingers minutes after application. My skin soaked it right up, and hours later my skin was still hydrated and comfortable. Airplane cabin air ordinarily leaves my face feeling parched, but this oil kept dryness at bay during my roundtrip flights. Designed for use both at night or in the morning, I found my skin looking satiated in the morning and my makeup blended easily over it. Bonus: it's also recommended for mild eczema.
